Looking for a beautiful cake that’s a little boozy? Today we are talking about how to make alcohol-infused cakes. These boozy cakes are drool-worthy and perfect for any celebration!
These cakes are recommended for 21 years and older as we are adding alcohol to these tasty treats. I find adding alcohol into baked goods elevated the recipe and is a delicious surprise.
The best part about being inspired by your favorite cocktails or popular liqueurs is the depth of flavor and getting the balance of sweet and salty. This post will show you how to take a well-known cocktail or liquor and transform it into a delicious cake.
You can choose from cakes like Tequila Lime Margarita Cake, Raspberry Champagne Cake, Irish Cream Cake, or Red Wine Sangria Cake.
Below are some tips for success, as well as the tools and equipment you’ll need. I’m so excited to see your boozy cakes. Let’s get started!
Tips for success:
- Read through all the ingredients and instructions so you can get a better idea of how much time and what you need to make these cakes.
- To make homemade 3 cups of cake flour, you’ll need 2 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour mixed with ¼ cup cornstarch. This combination makes light and fluffy cakes.
- To make homemade buttermilk, you’ll need 1 cup buttermilk; if you don’t have any buttermilk on hand, you can easily use 1 cup whole milk mixed with 1 Tablespoon lemon juice or white vinegar to make your own.
- A single batch of these cake recipes makes three 6-inch round cake layers or two 8-inch round cake layers. Double the cake recipe to make enough cake batter for three 8-inch cake layers.
- You can bake the cake layers ahead of time. Wrap the cake layers in plastic wrap and freeze for up to one month.
- You can make the buttercream a day ahead and refrigerate it overnight. Then take them out to come back to room temperature. Make sure the buttercream is at room temperature before re-whipping; if needed, add heavy cream.
- Serve the cakes at room temperature. To get clean cuts of cake, run hot water over a sharp knife, wipe clean after each slice. Reheat the blade as needed.
