How much do you spend on coffee every week? Or month? Or year? Is it more than you would like to admit?
Well the average American spends more than $80 on coffee every month. That’s a lot of money per year! Those $3-$4 drinks add up fast.
I have to admit I love my Starbucks I know exactly what I want and it tastes the same every single time I go.
Side note: I also repeat my order in my head more than enough times so I don’t slip at the counter, you know because we all do that right lol! Even more so when there’s a line and you don’t want to take up more time saying “ummm” trying to remember what you want! It’s the worst!
Back to it, for saving money I immediately started with my daily coffee trips. It hurt at first but my wallet and bank account IMMEDIATELY thanked me.
Now don’t get me wrong I didn’t cut out coffee altogether I just made my usual coffee order at home instead. I save so much more than money like time and gas/miles.
This also meant I didn’t have to bolt out of the house in the morning to accommodate the time spent waiting for my coffee.
Now I want to specify I don’t just drink straight black coffee, if I was I’m sure I would of saved a lot more way before now. I go for the frappuccinos, lemonades, lattes (which never turned out right at home until I recently cracked that code) and the easy grab and go food items.
I much more enjoy my coffee and feel way more accomplished by making it at home.
Honestly I still go every once in a while but it’s a rare treat now. I’ll go meet up with friends and make it a more social visit then just a quick run in and go.
It’s a much more enjoyable; some Starbucks even have a full menu with a table service, which is very cool!
I just wanted to give you a little insight that a coffee loving, Starbucks going girl can change her habits, so can you!
Note: I have tried out these recipes and use them regularly, some I have made a slight adjustment to more of my taste and Ill add those notes for you as well.
Let’s get to it coffee lovers!
Found from Eugenie Kitchen
One of the most popular drinks Starbucks makes and here is an easy to follow guide from Eugenie Kitchen. I like that they have xanthan gum as optional. Xanthan gum for those who have no idea what this is. It’s a powder used in milkshakes, ice cream and gluten free baking to hold that perfect texture. For example do you ever wonder why your milkshakes at home separate and split it’s because professional places use xanthan gum to keep the creamy ice texture longer for you to enjoy it.
Passion Tea Lemonade
Found from Cincy Shopper
I could drink this lemonade any time of year. It’s easy to make a bigger batch of this lemonade at home and it even works as a perfect cocktail for Sunday brunches. I love a little sparkling wine or champagne for a twist on mimosas or for a fun girl night add vodka for a refreshing drink.
Found from Thriving Home
I make a dozen of these at a time and individually wrap each one to freeze so I could just put in the toaster oven when I’m getting ready in the morning. So it’s perfectly warm and crispy when I am ready to eat it.
Chai Tea Latte
Found from Live Simply
This recipe is perfect for tea lovers. Kristin breaks down how to make the perfect combination for Chai Tea. I see it as a great gift for your loved ones and an even better morning pick me up.
Java Chip Frappuccino
Found from Leelalicious
This recipe is a great example on how to use coconut milk instead of milk in our favorite coffee drinks.
Roasted Mozzarella Panini
Found from Jamonkey
I love fresh mozzarella and tomatoes with fresh basil so this sandwich is something I could eat all the time. I made this focaccia bread in culinary school a long time ago and it’s perfect for this sandwich. If you are up to the challenge of making your own bread from scratch, it’s much simpler than you think it is and tastes so much better. Check that out here!
Found from Cooktoria
I love Tania’s trick of using a whisk to make the foam for the milk. It’s perfect because, like most, I already have a whisk at home so it’s one less thing I would have to buy.
Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher
Found from Hip2Save
I really like the tip of using frozen berries that way you don’t have to worry about keeping the berries fresh all the time. The added bonus is it helps keep your drink cold without watering it down. Mmmm Tasty!
Pumpkin Spice Latte
Found from The Dallas Socials
The great part about pumpkin is you really don’t have to wait till fall to have this delicious drink. By using canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices you can have this popular drink whenever you want.
Petite Vanilla Scones
Found from Mummy Musings
I do love these mini vanilla scones freshly baked but my favorite part is actually when they get to become stale after a few days. The reason I get excited is because I crush the scones up in the food processor add a little bit of butter and make a tart crust for a perfect tart. So I never worry when all these can’t be eaten fresh because I just turn it into a lemon tart for example. Yummy right!
Found from Modern Christian Homemaker
Vanilla lattes are my favorite. At Starbucks I typical get this drink either hot or cold but I usually get the skinny version with skim milk and sugar free vanilla syrup so I don’t feel as guilty eating a cookie with my coffee lol!
Blueberry Crumble Coffee Cake
Found from Sweet Anna’s
I like this crumble cake with morning coffee or it’s perfect for a lighter spring/summer dessert after dinner. You can us easier fresh or frozen blueberries. I like to add lemon zest to this crumble cake as well. Lemon and blueberry go perfectly together!
Chocolate Chip Cookies
Found from The Grant Life
Who doesn’t love chocolate chip cookies, especially warmed up! Making chocolate chip cookies is a childhood classic and an all-time favorite. This recipe is easy to understand and even easier to make. Happy Baking!
The main reason why most of us go to a local coffee shop for our morning cup is because it is convenience, unfortunately sometimes convenience maybe more than we can afford or spend way more than we think.
It’s perfectly fine to treat ourselves just remember it is POSSIBLE to make your favorite drinks and snacks at home for less and it’s more fun too!
So what’s your favorite drink from Starbucks? Leave a comment I’d love to hear from you!
