Summer nights are a magical time of year, which makes a backyard movie night a must. Find out how to host an awesome backyard movie night!
When hosting a movie night there are some must haves to make sure your backyard movie night is a success. Think about what comfy seats, delicious refreshments and what movie you want to feature.
I can’t think of a better way to take advantage of all that magic than by hosting an outdoor movie night. Here’s 5 easy tips to make an awesome backyard movie night!
Let’s Have a Movie Night!
1. Seating & Blanket Setup
Scatter cushions and seats around the backyard while guests grab smaller pillows and blankets. Oversized cushions and bean bag chairs make every seat the best seat in the house. Blankets in baskets from the house keep everything organized while oversized balloons add a pop of color. It’s time to get comfortable!
2. Pick a Movie
This all depends on who is attending your awesome movie party. Depending on your crowd, you’ll probably want something generally family-friendly and appealing to all ages. A good choice is to always pick a classic movie that everyone will love like The Princess Bride, Singing in the Rain, The Wizard of Oz, or any movie musical ever!
3. DIY Movie Screen & Projector
When the lights go down, it’s showtime! Stream a movie from a laptop attached to a office-standard projector. You can easily create a movie screen from a few PVC pipes and a (thicker) white drop cloth. Once the projector is secured, make sure to do a dry run to ensure you’ve got all the right cables and connective equipment. There’s nothing more embarrassing or frustrating than an equipment malfunction, am I right? Oh and don’t forget the speakers!
4. Twinkle Lights to See
Line your backyard with lots of lights so your guests can easily find their way around. You can use bistro lights or christmas lights to hang around your property. It certainly creates a movie night to remember. Don’t forget to have a lot of extension cords handy. With all the lights, laptops, projectors, speakers, plugged in the worst thing is to run out of power to have everything work at the same time.
5. Cinema Snacks Stand
Assemble a grab-and-go concession service on a long table. For a fun touch, wheel in a theater-style popcorn cart. Add some lights lining the table so you can see what snacks you are getting once the sun goes down! See what fun cinema snacks you can easily make below.
