Let’s Get Hacking!
Eggs Are Life
Eggs are everything when you’re on the Keto Diet. It’s easy to enjoy eggs throughout your day and they travel well when hard-boiled. They’re easy to make and a great source of protein. Eggs are also one of the healthiest and most versatile foods in the Keto food pyramid. Boil, scramble, omelette, fry, or poach them; there are so many dishes you can make out of them. For example here are 14 crazy easy egg focused breakfast recipes that you are sure to enjoy!
Go For the Real Food
Pick the most natural and quickest way to get into the keto lifestyle is by choosing real foods over to processed foods. Processed foods are filled with sugars, carbs and highly salted. The health benefits are numerous when selecting whole grains, meats, fruits, vegetables, and non-homogenized dairy products instead of frozen pizza and meal-helpers. And of course, who wouldn’t want to have meals on the table that are fresh, nutritious and flavorful right? But don’t feel like because you are choosing real foods over processed ones means that you will be stuck in the kitchen all day. Here are quick and easy Ketogenic meals that will keep you on this healthy lifestyle path.
Make Your Own Dressing and Condiments
Instead of buying unhealthy store dressings you know the ones that are loaded with sugars and salt! Why not choose healthier options (read the labels) or make homemade recipes as an alternatives? Though it may sound intimidating at first, the idea of making your own dressings and condiments can benefit your health so much. For example, start with a good oil like extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil, add a balsamic or red wine vinegar and salt and pepper. Mix it together in a mason jar, shake it up real quick and you have an instant salad dressing. And don’t you worry about coming up with your own recipes; Pinterest has got you covered for Keto friendly condiments and dressings.
Go For Some Zoodles
If you are missing pasta, substitute your pasta or noodles with using zucchini, sweet potato, butternut squash, and other veggies instead. I know it sounds crazy but now that have this crazy thing called a Spiralizer (http://amzn.to/2DbLLj9) that effortlessly helps you cut these veggies into pasta shapes. They’re easy to make and taste so good in any recipes. Also, when it comes to nutritional values, they offer a ton of vitamins that will help you stick to your Keto Diet and keep you full all day. Forget unhealthy noodles and try spiralizing veggie noodles or zoodles.
Snack on High-Fat Foods
I know that statement sounds backwards but how does that make sense? Well, did you know foods that are high in fat are going to keep you feeling full for longer? This makes it perfect for the Ketogenic lifestyle. Most of the time diets defer you from snacking all day but with the Keto diet they encourage it if you snack right! Snacking on things like avocado and nuts deliver a TON of nutrients while keeping you fuller longer that’s the key! So if you want to stick to your Keto diet plan, get rid of all the unhealthy snack foods and try ones like this that will help you get to your goal!
Frozen Produce and Veggies
The truth is there are no doubts that frozen veggies and produce are some of the most convenient and cheapest items. You can get them in bulk from the grocery store, stock in your freezer, and defrost when needed for quick meals. The frozen veggie and produce packages require zero prep time and can be added instantly to your recipe. But what makes them more amazing is because the veggies are frozen at the height of their readiness so you are still getting just as many nutrients as fresh vegetables.
Craving Sweets? Go For Healthy Desserts
Who says being on the Keto Diet means skipping dessert? Try out some Keto friendly dessert recipes, like frozen fruit, full-fat yogurt, keto mug cakes, and more to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings. Make them in advance, freeze or store in your jars, and munch on them after you finish your meal. It’ll save you so much time and energy. Here are 11 Ketogenic desserts that will satisfy your sweet tooth!
Ditch The Diet Drinks
Did you know that diet drinks are no good in your Keto Diet? Whether they are labeled zero sugar or zero calories, these drinks are still high in sugar content. Instead, choose water and tea as an alternative. I drink green tea way more now instead of coffee (I love coffee but the cream and sugar is just not good on the Keto diet). When I first started I needed honey or sugar in it but quickly my taste buds changed I don’t need the added sugar to enjoy a hot tea. If you want a more refreshing drink, add some citrus fruit, mint, and cucumber to your water for an instant delicious detoxing drink (here’s a really good recipe!). These detox drinks will cleanse your body effortlessly and can even help you lose weight.
Tips For Eating Out
This may surprise you it’s not very hard to make most restaurant meals keto-friendly when eating out. Most restaurants offer some kind of meat or fish-based dish. Order this, and replace any high-carb food with extra vegetables. Egg-based meals are also a great option, such as an omelet or eggs and bacon. Another favorite is bun-less burgers. You could also leave the bun and swap the fries for vegetables instead. Add extra avocado, cheese, bacon or eggs. At Mexican restaurants, you can enjoy any type of meat with extra cheese, guacamole, salsa and sour cream. For dessert, ask for a mixed cheese board or double cream with berries.
So whatever your reason is for being on the Keto Diet, these hacks have you covered. Nothing feels as good as when you’re treating your body right. So try them out and let me know what you think!
